Fat Larry’s Acquires Liquor License
Fat Larry’s located at 1026 S. Charles St., the former home of Corks, now has an active 6-day liquor license. From its Facebook page:
THE BAR IS OPEN!! Come to the Back of Fat Larry’s and enjoy High End Spirits, Wines by the Glass and by the Bottle, All Craft Beers and Awesome Cocktails. Outdoor patio. Remember come to the Back room Of Fat Larry’s for a Great time
In acquiring its liquor license, the property essentially swapped licenses with The Rowhouse Grille at 1400 Light St. The Rowhouse purchased Corks’ 7-day liquor license in 2012 to replace its former 6-day license. That 6-day license was later sought for the proposed Michael’s Cafe at 1006 S. Charles St., which never materialized. Fat Larry’s purchased the license earlier this year and it was successfully transferred to the property by the the Board of Liquor License Commissioners (BLLC).

Clement St. is also currently being renovated into a home thus leaving an unused liquor license in the area.
Warner Street Steam Pipe Relocation to Come out of Community Impact Funds
The South Baltimore communities surrounding the new Horseshoe Casino Baltimore are slated to receive $10-$20 million a year in community impact funds, however $3 million dollars from the first two years will now go toward repaying Whiting Turner for the relocation of a steam line on Warner St. near the new casino. The Mayor’s Office released its Year 1 impact funds spending plan last December and, though $2 million was allotted for infrastructure improvements in the area, the steam line relocation was not included in that budget. From the plan:
Receiving the most funding in the plan with $2 million is infrastructure upgrades to Russell, Bayard, Worchester and Warner Streets, which will be completed by Caesars. Just behind at $1.8 million is additional police coverage for the area. An additional $1.025 million is planned for fiber optic cables and cameras for CitiWatch and $1 million for the Complete Streets Plan initiative, which is underway as the DOT front-loaded the full funding.
Also included is $710,000 for DPW Sanitation Staffing, $500,000 for Employment Connection Center, $500,000 for Community Benefits District Program Study/Staffing, and $500,000 for Community Fund for Small Grants. $450,000 is planned for Enhanced Medic Services, $225,000 for Summer Youth Jobs and Year-round Internships, and $100,000 or more each for Tree Planting, Neighborhood Food Advocates, Warner St. Corridor Urban Design Study, and Consultant for Long-Range Master Plan.
Charm City Circulator to Add Temporary Casino Stop
Horseshoe Casino Baltimore opens on August 26th and, for the first week of its opening, there will be a Charm City Circulator (CCC) Orange Line stop added at the facility. From an article in the Baltimore Sun:
The special Circulator for the first week of operations will pick riders up at existing Orange Line stops along Pratt Street that will be marked with casino signs. It will not stop between Pratt Street and the casino.
The special service will use two buses each from the Circulator’s existing Orange and Green lines and will have a minimal effect on those routes, Murphy said. The transportation department doesn’t have a budget to make the casino route permanent, he said, but it and casino officials will be gauging the Circulator’s popularity.
The CCC will soon add an extension of the Purple route to Wells St. Stadium Square developers Caves Valley Partners and casino management have also expressed an interest in becoming a permanent part of a CCC route. The Orange, Purple and Green Lines of the CCC are currently funded by a Baltimore City Parking Tax and the Banner Route is funded by a National Parks grant.
Ravens Value Continues To Grow

This makes the Ravens the 10th most valuable franchise in the NFL. With its previous value of $1.227 billion, the Ravens were the 19th most valuable sports franchise in the world, so that ranking is likely to improve in next year’s list.
